A proprietary dual-point boiler reset controller by Energx is proven to save an average 20% natural gas fuels for combination service boilers in apartment complex typically seen in the Southern California. SoCalGas Emerging Technologies conducted M&V in a rigorous assessment test for 4 boilers in 2009-2010, and then a scaled field placement test for 30 boilers on 8 sites in 2010-2011.
The application is best for commercial residential segment, boilers with capacity in the range of 0.75-1.5 MMBtu/hr. When outside air temperature is mild or warm, there is no space heating load and the domestic hot water temperature can be lowered safely and comfortably.
