During the first 2-1/2 days of this 3-day class we review material from Level 1 and 2 classes to help prepare students to take the written test(s) for Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification, which are given on the last afternoon. Only written tests are offered during this class. A BPI charge of $125 per written test is due by the beginning of the test period.

It is recommended but not required that students complete the Level 1 and Level 2 classes (or their equivalents) before taking the Level 3 class.

To become BPI- certified, an individual must pass both written and field tests for at least one of these four skill categories: - Building Analyst
- Shell Specialist
- Heating Specialist
- Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Specialist.

For those who pass the written tests, CBPCA will arrange field testing at a later date. BPI also charges a fee for each field test. Significant home performance field experience is usually needed to pass the field tests.
