Attendees will be introduced with an overview of LEED® and its aspects for the regional southwest. The overview will include discussions on all six categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Conservation, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Design Process and Innovation; as well as, the six basic LEED rating systems: New Construction, Core & Shell, Commercial Interiors, Homes and Neighborhood Development and Existing Buildings. (First in a series of four classes.)

Instructor: Christine Magar, AIA; LEED AP; President - Greenform
Ms. Magar offers exceptional expertise in design, theory, building science, and management. Her background encompasses architecture, urban design, interiors, and furniture design in diverse contexts in the United States and overseas, including municipal, utility, design firm, and academic environments. Currently vice-chair of the USGBC Core and Shell Committee, she has participated on the US Green Building Council's National LEED Steering Committee since 2001. She chairs AIA-LA Committee on the Environment; and has served on the LAUSD High Performance Schools Working Group, CHPS technical committee, City of Seattle Green Building Team, and the City of Los Angeles Sustainable Design Task Force.
