Building Operator Certification (BOC) is a competency-based training and certification for commercial building operators offering improved job skills and more comfortable, efficient facilities. Course series consists of classroom training, project assignments, and in-class exams administered at the end of each day of training. Level 1 topics include energy conservation techniques, HVAC systems and controls, efficient lighting fundamentals, sustainable O&M practices, indoor environmental quality, and facility electrical systems. Prior to registration, it is highly recommended that participants have one of the following qualifications: 1) two or more years of experience working in O&M of a commercial facility, 2) a minimum of one year of experience working in O&M and one year of technical college level education in facilities engineering related program, or 3) two or more years of experience in energy management of facilities. Participation on all dates is required for course completion.
