Course Description:
Although there is significant documentation and studies completed by organizations such as BOMA, USGBC and the U.S. GSA, there limited information that exists that helps guide a private sector owner of a commercial structure to help them decide the financial implications of retrofitting their building to a higher energy efficient standard. Thispresentation would first review historic and current trends in retrofitting and incorporate some documented studies regarding the financial implications of retrofitting to a higher energy efficiency level. The course will also document case studies regarding increases in property values as a result of energy efficiency upgrades. Many building owners have the desire to upgrade their commercial properties, but in the current state of the economy they are at a loss as to how to financial such upgrades. The presentation will also review current trends in rebates, public sector financing and private sector financing that make such upgrades possible.
