The purpose of this project is to develop an information tool for utilities to approach recycling facilities with suggestions for energy efficient technology upgrades.

Industry segments, such as automotive, batteries, tires, electronics, aluminum, steel, plastic, plating, and glass often have to rely on reclamation and recycling industries to deal with waste products. This can be a way to stay in compliance as well as to profit from waste products that otherwise would have to be discarded during manufacturing. It can also be a way to reduce or remove the end-of-life industry liability that surrounds products from larger industry sectors. Reclamation is often a natural extension of the manufacturing industries in a utility's service area; hence utilities have an interest in promoting the reclamation industries and their load-building potential.
