The AquaChill is a residential water-cooled air conditioning system. During the summer of 2008, thirty prototype AquaChill units were installed and monitored to determine the potential peak load reduction and energy savings. Unfortunately most of these units experienced problems with reliability. After examining monitoring and field inspection data, the Beutler Corporation completely redesigned the AquaChill and replaced all thirty of the prototypes at no cost to the participating customers. The new units were monitored during the summer of 2009. This report summarizes the results of the study and includes energy and peak electrical demand savings estimates.
