The expected outcome of this effort will be a set of guidelines and assessment procedures that will aid private sector consultants and facility managers in assessing and reducing building vulnerabilities across the state. Implementation of the guidelines would reduce the severity of an attack and may also reduce the likelihood of attack. The mitigation methods will be guided by the related goals of improving energy efficiency and indoor air quality. Therefore, another likely outcome of implementation of these guidelines is a reduction in the energy requirements associated with reducing building vulnerability.
