Keeping Californians in cool air and warm water takes a hefty dose of gas and electricity. Energy efficiency improvements in air conditioning and water heating have helped families throughout the state save money and energy. Emerging Technologies is testing a variety of air cooling and water heating technologies, and making the best available to customers. Since California's population is expected to grow from 37 million to 50 million by 2040, the need for identifying, testing, and bringing new energy efficiency technologies to the residential market becomes all the more pressing.
