|Description||Participants in this hands-on class will use a full-size horizontal HVAC system to measure airflow, static pressure, and amperage under various system configurations. System variables will include different filters, coils, variable size return ducts, duct testing, and different leakage amounts. Hands-on work in the class will include:
Measuring static pressure
Participants will be making changes to a model system and performing all tests under the guidance of the instructor. It is recommended that participants in this class first attend both the Equipment Sizing and Selection and ACCA Manual D Duct Design classes. North American Technician Excellence (NATE) continuing education credits are available for this course.
|Audience Level||This is an entry level course, but it is recommended that participants attend both the Equipment Sizing & Selection Using ACCA Manual J and ACCA Manual D--Duct Design classes.|
Rick Simpson is a licensed C-20 and C-28 contractor with more than 25 years of experience in the HVAC field. He has designed and installed numerous commercial and residential HVAC systems. In addition, Rick has provided design services for both residential and commercial systems and Title 24 consulting services.
In the last few years, he has focused his time on residential inspection services, Home Energy Rating System (HERS) verifications using the California Home Energy Efficiency Rating System (CHEERS), and training sessions for HVAC contractors.
Rick currently provides training classes for utilities in Southern California (Southern California Gas and San Diego Gas and Electric Companies) and in Northern California for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The classes he teaches include Combined Hydronic Heating Systems, HVAC System Air Flow and Static Pressure Diagnostics and Hydronic Heating: What, When and How.
Rick's home is in Palmdale, a community northeast of Los Angeles near Lancaster.
