How San Diego is becoming a leading smart (and efficient) city

By embracing energy efficient technologies, advanced sensors, and data analytics, San Diego has emerged at the forefront of the smart city movement. A great example of this innovative approach is the 3,000 LED streetlights the city installed downtown. Not only do the lights themselves save considerable energy compared with older technologies, but the addition of sensors and controls allows the city to offer enhanced pedestrian safety, better traffic flow, and more efficient infrastructure maintenance and upkeep. The city has taken this approach to solar energy, electric vehicles, drinking water systems, and more.
