Advanced Energy Efficiency and Power Quality Industrial Audit

Project Number ET12SCE1060 Organization SCE End-use Whole Building Sector Industrial Project Year(s) 2012 - 2012
Description
Conduct an Energy Efficiency (EE) and Power Quality (PQ) audit at an industrial site at SCE's service territory. The main objective of the audit was to identify ways to improve the efficiency of thermal and electric-powered industrial technologies, as well as of classic energy use systems, such as lighting, motors, drives, and compressed air.
Project Results
Advanced efficient electric technologies and environmental controls for industrial applications are creating a unique opportunity for electric service providers to help customers improve the overall energy use of their processes while reducing production costs. With support from several funding utilities, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) established the Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) in 2010 to encourage knowledge transfer, application, and identification of opportunities for demonstrations and commercialization of advanced efficient electric technologies and utilization methods.   As an ICoE member and funder, Southern California Edison (SCE) partnered with EPRI in 2012 to conduct an energy efficiency and power quality audit at a food processing plant in SCE’s service area.
