Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Advanced High Temperature, Low Pressure Steam Heat Pump

Project Number ET19SCE1160 Organization SCE End-use Process Loads Sector Industrial Project Year(s) 2019 - 2024
Description
This project will demonstrate that use of advanced, low GWP heat pumps can replace natural gas fired boilers, be significantly more efficient, and reduce green house gases. It will also show the efficiencies of integrating refrigeration waste heat with hot water and steam needs to provide a much better efficiency than stand alone, non-integrated systems. Performance data will be made available to Engineering Services as soon as possible for internal fuel substitution analysis. EPIC GFO 19-304 is a $1.99M project with EPRI as the prime contractor, includes project partners with EDF Innovation Laboratory, Mayekawa and CTS SCE will provide match funds and along with Kroger engineers, will be a key members of the technical advisory committee. The results will be presented in a final report for the CEC and one in EP&T format for SCE.The manufacture and testing of the HTHP is being conducted by CTS4CA, the California based subsidiary of sub-contractor CTS. Supervision and unbiased M&V is being conducted by EPRI.
