Western Cooling Challenge Field Test Office Application (Evaporative pre cooling of supply and condenser air)

Project Number ET13SCE7090 Organization SCE End-use HVAC Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2013 - 2016
Description
The purpose of this project is to verify the energy and water performance of packaged hybrid Roof Top Units (RTU) that combine both evaporative cooling technologies (direct and indirect) with standard vapor compression cooling. The field testing will consist of installing and evaluating the performance of two 17.5 ton new packaged hybrid RTU at the site of a national commercial real estate company. Baseline measurements have been taken on the existing RTU units to establish existing cooling efficiency followed by a full cooling season’s worth of data collection of the new hybrid unit(s).
