Zero Net Energy Production Builder Demonstration - Stockton Monitoring Report

Project Number ET14PGE8915 Organization PG&E End-use HVAC, Water Heating/DHW/HPWH, Whole Building, Other Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2014 - 2017
Description

The Zero Net Energy Production Builder Demonstration project provides guidance to five residential home builders on building to specifications that enable a home to achieve ZNE, including assistance with design options, building practices and modeling analysis.

This first report (attached below) details the design and construction process of a ZNE home in Stockton built by Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County. Key features of interest are integrated design solutions, a ¾  ton mini-split heat pump, and extensive advanced framing with a very low framing factor, which contributed to a ZNE package that saved money relative to the builder’s standard practice.

A second pdf attachment is an eight page case study that summarizes the above report's findings.

The third pdf attachment is a report that details the findings from a full year of monitoring the energy consumption by end use of the home.

In addition to this site in Stockton, below are links to monitoring reports at five other sites in the production builder demonstration project.

A combined report for all 6 projects can be found here: link
